Hey, so you’ve got this far, thanks for reading.
This blog started life as a way of tracking and writing about my training journey to run 100 miles in 24 hours. A run to which I would fondly refer to as ‘the long run’, and become the name of my blog.
That race took place way back in September 2014, and the writing about the training and the race never really happened in the way I wanted it to because 1) when you’re trying to train to run 100 miles, work full time and look after 2 kids, there isn’t much time for anything else, and 2) on completing 102 miles along the Cotswold Way (a path with a combined ascent of 12,000+ ft and the reward of 6 qualifying points for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) it was quite a difficult and emotional thing to talk and write about afterwards. To this day, only the guy I ran with knows what I went on out there.
So, this blog has become a place for me to write about running things, other races, thoughts and the like. And hopefully along the way, I’ll write some stuff that people might actually want to read, and like 🙂 but we’ll see. I’m pretty sure I’m a better runner than writer, so let’s view this blog as my writing in training!
